In his recent post Don't Label Me, Keith prought up a few "issues" that I've come across recently.

When you are going to talk politics, morals or religion, both parties need to be ready and willing. Otherwise your just asking for trouble and you are doing both yourself and the people you are talking to a disservice.

Recently one of my best friends went into a "let's break down the human psyche" conversation with me. Normally I love a challenging conversation, but not at midnight when Paul Oakenfold is spinning. Such a good moment, lost, due to bad timing. Over dinner and a little wine, we would have talked for hours, and both learning more about ourselves and our friendship. Instead, it made me feel awkward and distant from him.

Timing is everything... Around Christmas time, I have a bad habit of bringing up the point that Christmas is rooted in paganism. My intentions are "to inform", but the conversations turn nasty EVERY time. It's not because friends/family don't want to know what they're celebrating. It's because the timing is wrong. The time to burst someone's bubble is in January when they're getting their credit card bills. ;)
