The Ketchup Diet

NOTE: I come from a large family. We aren't 'big boned'; we have poor eating habits. Just like a majority of Americans. I weighted 30lbs more in college until I figured out how to control my eating.

In this age of fast-food convenience, I've always considered myself 'above average' when it comes to eating healthy. I don't crave junk food, but I occasionally splurge when it comes to eating out, mostly on the weekends at a nice restaurant. Not too bad, but that's how a failed diet starts...

On Sundays, Sarah can sometimes convince me Taco Bell isn't THAT bad (she's always up for the Bell). I tell myself it's Sunday, and I worked hard during the week. I'll convince myself that it's a special occasion, even though I just ate a 24oz porterhouse the night before. And really, how special is Taco Bell?

Next thing you know, I'm typing up this post after eating lunch at Chick-Fil-A on a Tuesday. How did it come to this?

I looked up the stats on my basic #1 with a Coke. Yikes!

cals fat(g) chol.(mg) sodium(mg) carbs(g)

Chick-fil-A Waffle Potato Fries (medium) 350 17 0 150 46

no ketchupHalf-desperate times call for half-desparate measures. Enter The Ketchup Diet™. It's simple diet with only two rules.

  1. Don't eat anything that normally get served with ketchup. That includes burgers, fries, meatloaf, etc.
  2. Don't eat (alone) at anyplace that keeps a bottle of ketchup on the table.
That's all there is to it! I'm committing myself to the ketchup diet for the rest of the year, so we'll see how it goes. My goal isn't to lose weight, it's to feel better, mentally and physically. If you think about it, does ketchup get served with anything healthy?
